Following the success of Whiskey and Tattoo, Jay-Jay Johanson released Poison. The album was a hit in Sweden and France, reaching number 20 in the French charts. The singles "Keep It a Secret" and "Believe in Us" became popular alternative hits across Europe. As the album art implies, Poison is arguably one of Jay-Jay Johanson's most sinister works. To create this feel, Jay-Jay Johanson collaborated with Robin Guthrie, who is famous for his work with Cocteau Twins.
