‘It’s A Joy To Be Alive’ is the third album from married British folk/pop duo, Ferris & Sylvester. As the name suggests, the 11-track album is an exploration of finding joy and hope in the darkest of parts of life, inspired by the duo’s own experiences in music, marriage and parenthood. This project shows an evolution of the award-winning duo’s signature sound: vocal harmonies, hooky guitar riffs and their combining of sweet with grit. There is a distinct nod to 1970’s pop throughout the record too, with strings and backing vocals reminiscent of Bacharach and The Carpenters. Written and recorded in their studio and released through their label Archtop Records, this album is their strongest and most vulnerable, showcasing their ‘immaculate harmonies’ (Rolling Stone Magazine).

Words from the band - ‘What we’ve learnt: writing an album all about joy is one thing, but writing it from a place of struggle is something else altogether. There’s a very raw underbelly to the harmonies and hooks. In writing these songs, we dug deep into ourselves and realised that when there is joy, life is wonderful. And when there is an absence of it, there is always hope. And it’s hope that keeps us living. The album’s message: it’s going to be ok, let’s dance in the kitchen.’

The album is available on a pastel pink coloured vinyl and CD, with album artwork shot exclusively on film by Daniel Alexander Harris.
