Emotional Junglist feels like Nia Archives finally letting everything out. It’s emotional, messy and full of energy, but never loses that jungle sound that makes her music so recognisable.
Emotional Junglist feels like a step forward from Silence Is Loud. Nia Archives sounds more confident in what she wants to make, blending indie-pop and R&B-inspired melodies with the frantic energy of jungle and breakbeats. The songs feel more developed and memorable, while the live band adds a much bigger sense of scale to the record. You can really hear the physicality in the production, from the weight of the bass and sharpness of the drums to the more emotional moments where the strings come through.
What I like most is that the album doesn’t just sound sad. There’s heartbreak all over it, but there’s also excitement, anger and confidence. The production keeps everything moving, with fast drums and heavy bass sitting alongside much softer and more vulnerable moments.
Some of the tracks hit harder than others, but that actually makes the album feel quite real. “Tender” is one of the standouts for me, while “Around Tha Bend” and “Vertical” bring the energy back up. By the end, it feels less like a breakup record and more like someone turning a bad time into something they can actually dance to.

We are excited to have collaborated on an exclusive Assai Obi Edition of the records - which is SIGNED by Nia - available in store and online (while stocks last - be quick to avoid being disappointed!)
